Creartful AIInsightsWhat to automate first
What to automate first in your marketing.
The best first automation is rarely the most exciting one. It is the dull task your team does every week, follows the same rules every time and would never embarrass you if a draft were wrong.

Score each task on four things.
Frequency
How often? Daily or weekly tasks pay back fastest.
Rules
How predictable? Tasks with clear rules are easier to automate well.
Risk
What if it is wrong? Start where a person catches mistakes before anyone else sees them.
The fourth is data: do you already have what the task needs, in a system an AI workspace can read?
Good first candidates.
- Product descriptions and alt text for new items
- The weekly or monthly performance summary
- Meta titles and descriptions for pages that lack them
- Sale campaign drafts built from current prices
- First drafts of replies to the most common questions
Leave these for later.
- Anything sent to customers without review
- Pricing or refund decisions
- Brand campaigns where the idea matters more than the volume
- Tasks where the data is scattered or unreliable
Start with one.
Pick one task, set a simple measure (time per item, or share approved without edits), run it for a few weeks with a person reviewing every output, then decide. One automation that works teaches you more than five that half work.
Do we need new tools to start?
Usually not. A dedicated AI workspace connected to the tools you already use covers most first automations.
How do we know if it is working?
Agree a measure before you start, such as minutes saved per item or the share of drafts approved without edits, and compare after a few weeks.
Should the first automation be an agent?
Rarely. Most first wins are fixed workflows with a review step. Agents come later, for tasks that vary case by case.
