Creartful AIInsightsMCP, explained
MCP for marketers, explained.
MCP is the reason an AI workspace can read your live store, analytics and email data instead of whatever someone pasted in. Here is what it is, what a connector can do, and what to ask before you connect one.

What MCP is.
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI models to the software and data a business already uses.
Anthropic introduced it in November 2024 as an open standard, and many software companies now publish their own MCP servers. A useful picture is one adapter that fits many sockets: instead of a custom integration for every tool, each tool offers a connector that any compatible AI workspace can use.
What a connector can do.
Read
Look up products, pages, queries, reports or contacts. Nothing changes.
Draft
Prepare a campaign, a page or a product update without publishing it.
Write
Change something live. This is the access to grant last, and review first.
Every connector states what it can do and acts through an account you control. That makes it possible to give each one the least access its tasks need.
Official and community connectors.
Some connectors are published by the company that makes the tool. Others are built by the community or by third parties. Both can work well, but they deserve different levels of checking.
Ask before you connect
- Who publishes this connector?
- What can it read, and what can it change?
- Whose account does it act through?
- How do we remove its access?
How we use it.
In a Creartful AI workspace, every connector starts read only. Write access is added only for tasks that need it, and changes to a live site, store or list go through a person at the studio before they are applied. You grant access from your own accounts and can revoke it at any time. The changelog records every connection added or removed.
Is MCP only for Claude?
No. MCP is an open standard, and many AI tools and software companies support it.
Does connecting a tool give the AI full control?
Only if you grant it. A connector can be limited to reading, and write access can be held back or routed through review.
What if a tool has no connector?
If it has an API, a custom connector can usually be built. We plan and build those on the Expedition plan.
